The best winter destinations in Italy: discover them behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Urus.

22 October 2021

Did you know that about a third of Italy is covered by mountains? If we refer to the elevation zones defined by ISTAT - which consider territory above 600 metres in the north and 700 metres in the centre-south and the islands as mountains - then 35% of the country's surface is mountainous.

The mountains of Italy are divided into two large ranges:

  • The chain of the Alps;
  • The chain of the Apennines.

These chains form a single large system, with a shape reminiscent of an "S", and occupy all Italian regions, all the way to Sicily. However, a separate discussion is true for Sardinia, where the mountains of the Sardinian-Corsican system are located. This range does not belong to the Alps nor the Apennines.

The highest peaks in Italy are concentrated in the Alps, all abundantly above four thousand metres above sea level, and some touching five thousand metres.

This premise was necessary to say that it is not easy to determine which winter destinations in Italy are best. But we tried and soon we will let you know the Italian winter destinations that we have in mind for you.

Firstly, however, we believe it only right to say that the best way to reach them is to rent a Lamborghini in Italy and, more specifically, to rent a Lamborghini Urus, the SUV of the Sant'Agata Bolognese house, where every surface is designed for aerodynamic efficiency that defines its personality. Inspired by the LM002 and the super sports cars, the new Lamborghini Urus is a Lamborghini in all respects, also thanks to the characteristic relationship between body surfaces (two thirds) and crystals (one third).

The name Urus - as per Lamborghini tradition - comes from the world of bulls: Urus cattle (uri), also known as Aurochs, are among the great wild ancestors of today's breeds. The Spanish bullfighting bull, bred for the past 500 years, still looks very similar to that of the Urus breed.

We can let you find your dream car wherever you prefer: in an airport, city centre, at your home before departure or in the parking lot of the hotel you have chosen for your stay in one of the finest Italian winter destinations. All you have to do is ask and we will satisfy your every need.

For the best winter destination in northern Italy: discover Courmayeur onboard a Lamborghini Urus.

Cortina d'Ampezzo and Courmayeur are undoubtedly among the best winter destinations in Northern Italy. We have already mentioned the former in our other article that we invite you to read by clicking here if you want to spend a few days of vacation in the Pearl of the Dolomites.

As for Courmayeur, the town is located at the foot of Mont Blanc, at 1224 metres above sea level. Surrounded by the beautiful mountain panorama, between glaciers and larch and fir woods, Courmayeur is one of the most famous winter holiday destinations in Italy in the Aosta Valley.

Famous all over the world for its slopes, for the glaciers of Mont Blanc and its spas, here you can not only dedicate yourself to the most diverse sports activities choosing among alpine skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing, but you can also visit the historic centre, which is one of the must-see attractions of Courmayeur: small and intimate, it houses monuments and historic buildings of rare beauty, such as the Church of San Pantaleone and the Malluquin Tower. The museums also deserve special mention, including the Duca degli Abruzzi Alpine Museum and the Mont Blanc Transfrontier Museum.

Arriving in Cortina d'Ampezzo, which contends for the title of best winter destination in northern Italy, on board a Lamborghini Urus is truly an experience to try at least once in a lifetime.

Once you arrive at your destination with a Lamborghini Urus SUV, don't miss the opportunity to go hunting for myths and legends, which are quite common in those parts.

Just to give you an example, Val di Fassa is particularly rich, perhaps for the breathtaking views and fairytale landscapes it offers, and the legend that is at the origin of the particular phenomenon that takes the Ladin name - Val di Fassa is very fascinating. it is the only valley in Trentino where Dolomite Ladin is still spoken - enrosadira, which literally means “becoming pink”.

The story of what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful winter destinations in Northern Italy begins, like all fairy tales, with once upon a time there was a king ...

Therefore, once upon a time, there was a king named Laurino who owned a magnificent rose garden on the Rosengarten, that is the Catinaccio massif. One day the prince of Latemar, intrigued by the garden, entered the Kingdom of King Laurino, where he met Ladina, the king's daughter, with whom he fell madly in love and kidnapped. The curse launched by the desperate Laurin then fell on the kingdom: no one could ever see his rose garden, guilty of having revealed the position of the Kingdom, neither by day nor by night. The king, however, while petrifying the garden neglected sunrise and sunset and for this reason that roses reappear in those two moments of the day, colouring the mountains!

Now you're intrigued, right? Warm up the engines of your Lamborghini Urus (in black or your favourite colour) and find out why the Dolomites are also called the Pale Mountains!
