27 April 2021

When we considered mentioning Italian art cities, the first question that arose spontaneously was the following: how is it possible to describe this infinite and wonderful world in a single article? We came up with only one answer: it is impossible! When referring to art cities in Italy, we mean those that have given an indelible testimony and left a deep imprint on our history. In Italy, walking along roads and paths, you can naturally cross works that date back to the Etruscan, Roman, Byzantine, Medieval and Renaissance periods, passing through the European historical period of the Enlightenment to reach today. For this reason, we are giving you the gist of the best cities of art in Italy to visit by renting an Aston Martin DB 11 Volantethe convertible version of the Coupé that maintains the sinuous shapes and the sophisticated passenger compartment with two front seats and two (makeshift) rear ones.

You can rent your Aston Martin DB 11 and pick it up wherever you prefer: at your home before departure, upon your arrival at the airport in your first destination or even at your hotel. All you have to do is ask and we will fulfill your every wish so that your tour of the finest art cities in Italy is truly memorable.

The best art cities in Italy: a brief, necessary explanatory introduction to Italy.

Italy has undergone numerous influences over the centuries that have been well preserved and are rooted in the country to the present day. A unique country, almost entirely in the Mediterranean, the capital of an empire that sought to unite the known world: the same project that is called globalization today. Territorially the country is divided into 20 regions with two landlocked states: the Vatican City and the Republic of San Marino. Each region has its own very personal strong identity which is further recognized in its dialect, cuisine, artists, works of art and landscape. A series of masterpieces that give life to what we call the best art cities in Italy.

The finest art cities in Italy are practically located everywhere in each of the 20 regions, which constitute the first level of territorial subdivision of the Italian state, as well as in its public bodies with political and administrative autonomy:

  • Valle d’Aosta
  • Piedmont
  • Liguria
  • Lombardy
  • Trentino Alto Adige
  • Veneto
  • Friuli Venezia Giulia
  • Emilia Romagna
  • Tuscany
  • Umbria
  • Marche
  • Lazio
  • Abruzzo
  • Molise
  • Campania
  • Puglia
  • Basilicata
  • Calabria
  • Sicily
  • Sardinia

In turn, each region is divided into provinces possessing its own peculiar beauty - more or less accentuated - the famous art cities of Italy.

Climb aboard your Aston Martin DB11 and set off to discover some of the best Italian cities for art!

Italy: art destinations to visit driving your Aston Martin DB 11 Volante V8.

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, and repeat now, selecting the best art cities to visit in Italy is no easy matter. We have decided to indicate two of them, which you can reach by moving comfortably from one to the other with your Aston Martin DB11 V8 Volante.

We want to surprise you, so we will leave out of your tour the most classic destinations, such as Milan, Turin, Florence, Genoa, Perugia, Rome, Naples, Palermo, and invite you to do so within the wonderful Aston Martin DB11 Volante, to two of the smallest and often less known.

The first art city in Italy that we want you to visit is Trento, a city on a human scale that can be visited on foot, surrounded by mountains. Here you can admire many beauties: from the statue of Dante Alighieri - the symbol of Italian culture - to the ancient Renaissance palaces and the remains of the ancient crenelated walls in Piazza Fiera. The history of Trento, as well as being contained in the Buonconsiglio Castle, can be admired by sitting in one of the bars in Piazza Duomo and looking towards the Fountain of Neptune, designed by Francesco Antonio Giongo, towards the Palazzo Pretorio, towards the characteristic houses Cazuffi-Rella and, finally, towards the famous Cathedral, where the crucial meetings of the Council of Trent were held.

The second best art city to visit in Italy is undoubtedly Lucca, a true open-air museum: you know that it is one of the few art cities in Italy to have the famous Renaissance walls perfectly intact with six entrance doors? Furthermore, its historic center is full of wonderful monuments, squares, and churches, such as the Cathedral of San Martino or the Church of San Michele. The Guinigi Tower - with its 230 steps and its hanging garden where seven holm oak trees have been housed - and the Clock Tower represent important artistic heritage with a unique view and a particular history.

What are you waiting for? Warm up your Aston Martin DB11 Volante's engine and go straight there to discover them!
